Production (Windows and Doors) Supervisor

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor will oversees the department production in accordance with plant policies and procedures and in compliance with safety policies.  The Production Supervisor is responsible for delivering high quality products on time with a commitment to safety and to use all resources efficiently to improve productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises production department in accordance with plant policies and procedures and in compliance with health and safety policies
  • Accountable for the health and safety of workers under their supervision
  • Ensures that machinery; equipment and work areas shall be properly maintained in safe working condition
  • Ensures that all employees within their departments have been trained and are working in compliance with the Health and Safety policy. Provides training for specialized jobs
  • Supervises and manages plant employees; scheduling, attendance, performance, labour forecasting, overtime, progressive discipline, etc
  • In collaboration with the Plant Manager and Human Resources, manages aspects of staffing for the department; hiring, lay-offs, recall and terminations
  • Plans production and scheduling in accordance to the labour cost budget and ensures daily production targets are met
  • Ensures high quality production
  • Communicates production status and escalates issues to Plant Manager accordingly
  • Manages the flow of production to ensure the highest level of efficiency
  • Responsible for shift schedules; rotations, training, vacations, breaks, overtime, back-up for absent employee, etc
  • Communicates with other Supervisors and Plant Manager and encourages interdepartmental communication and collaboration
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills, leads by example and is accountable for all areas of the department
  • Ensures that protective equipment required by law and health and safety policies are used and maintained properly by employees and that employees understand the reason for its use
  • Ensures that all injuries are treated and reported
  • Investigates, reports and completes Supervisor’s Accident Investigation form for all accidents and takes corrective action
  • Completes daily production reports
  • Attends daily production meetings
  • Oversees shift start up and inspects end of shift, shut down
  • Approves any payroll discrepancies
  • Assists in production as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (window manufacturing experience an asset)
  • High School Diploma
  • Superior leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
